DJI NEO – Sample Footage 4K 30 FPS

Recently, I bought the DJI Neo and recorded some sample footage using its default settings. I was surprised by the quality of the footage produced; it did not meet my expectations. Given the price of the DJI Neo, it’s hard to criticize the drone’s overall quality. However, by adjusting some camera settings, we can achieve some impressive and usable footage. I have attached the sample footage captured with the DJI Neo straight out of the box, along with some clips showcasing the improved results after changing the camera settings.

CIRCLE MODE 4K 30 FPS DEFAULT SETTINGS

Attached below is the quick shot (Circle) video recorded at the default settings with the DJI Neo at 4K and 30 fps. You can download it to watch on your mobile phone or computer to experience the original quality. While the image quality may not seem significantly low on a phone, you will notice a considerable difference when viewed on a larger screen, such as a laptop or desktop computer.

DRONIE MODE 4K 30 FPS AFTER CHANGING THE CAMERA SETTING

After adjusting the camera sharpness setting from 0 to -2, the image quality has noticeably improved. Additionally, lighting plays a crucial role; you can clearly see the significant difference in image quality before and after modifying the camera settings.

ACTIVE TRACK 4K 30 FPS CAMERA SETTINGS CHANGED

The Active Track feature in the DJI Neo performs exceptionally well, even when we move quickly out of the frame; it usually manages to keep track of the subject. However, it struggles to maintain tracking in low-light conditions. The video I have attached was filmed at 3 PM in good lighting, with the sharpness set to -2.

FOLLOW MODE 4K 30 FPS CAMERA SETTINGS CHANGED

The follow mode on the DJI Neo functions well, but we must exercise caution when using this feature. Since the DJI Neo lacks omnidirectional obstacle avoidance sensors, it has a tendency to crash. To maximize its effectiveness, follow mode should be utilized in open areas free from obstacles and under good lighting conditions. This video was filmed at 3 PM, with the sharpness set to -2.
